About Michelle Ney

Michelle has designed scen
ery and costumes for numerous theatre and opera companies, including The Colony Theatre and The Theatre at Boston Court (Los Angeles), ZACH Theatre, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Texas Shakespeare Festival, Idaho Repertory Theatre, Austin Shakespeare,  and Austin Lyric Opera. Recent projects include Roe; Matilda; Singing in the Rain; Hang; Tribes; A View From the Bridge; Richard III, A Christmas Story; A Midsummer Night's Dream; Macbeth; Gulls; Bat Boy: The Musical; An Ideal Husband; The Glass Menagerie; The Comedy of Errors; The Cherry Orchard, and Two Gentlemen of Verona. Michelle’s work has been featured in both the Prague Quadrennial International Design Exposition and  Costume Design at the Turn of the Century in Moscow.  Her scenic and costume designs have been published multiple times in Theatre Design & Technology. In addition to her freelance work, Michelle is a Professor of Theatrical Design at Texas State University.  Prior to joining the faculty at Texas State, she was on the design faculties at University of Idaho, University of Texas at Austin, and St. Edward’s University.
